How the Moro heads of Kalat Ceramiche are made

The heads of Moro Kalat Ceramiche are made exclusively by hand, according to a process that has been handed down to Caltagirone for centuries, giving life to a unique product of its kind.

• The clay is forged and modeled by hand, giving life to the different characteristic figures of the Moro heads;
• The object is then baked for the first cooking at a temperature of 970 degrees;
• In this phase the darkness of Moro is enamelled and decorated by hand by Maestri Calatini artisans;
• Moro's head is then subjected to a second cooking at a temperature of about 930 degrees that determine the process of ceramization and product vitrification;
• In the last phase the product can be embellished with precious metals (gold or platinum) and luscers followed by the third and last cooking.

Every detail of Moro's head is handmade and this makes each work unique.

The decoration is embellished with 24 carat gold details.
